It appears all you need are the inner sleeves. They were likely left connected to the cables and are now gone. The kit you showed has all the pieces. whether they fit or not is a crap shoot with repop stuff.
With what you have this is all you need. Tom's NOS has them, I'm sure others as well.

Robbie, thanks for the photo.

That one photo makes it quite clear in my head now how it goes together.

The spiral that I have looks quite rusty, and I will attempt to clean it up, and look for the parts.

Thanks again for the assistance.

I did do another search here, and instead of "spiral".... I used the word "plunger"...

Got a lot of info, and photos.

I guess sometimes, the wording is what counts when looking for info.

Thanks again for the assistance.

yep, my '49 FL and my '49 Model S (125cc) are exactly bass-ackwards. The quick solution to reversing the push-pull if you install a carb that requires a "pull" is to find the spiral guts from a Harley lightweight of that era. And don't forget the closed-end waffle grips that went on the sleeves.

Either one of you guys got one you would like part with?

Well,

I finally got the parts to repair/fix these handlbars so I can use them

Robbie is 100% dead on ......... with the ID of the bars, and work most likely will be needed to make the aftermarket repair parts work properly

Right side ...fit great, went together just fine... Left side....nope...plungers ID was too small to fit the sprial ..... so I had to work on that side for a bit, took a reamer, then a small cylinder hone ... but I did get it to work.

Still have to find the one spiral, that pulls.......from a 125/165, just to have in case I decide on using the S&S Super E Shorty carb instead of the M-74B I have. So if anybody has on in their stash of parts let me know.

Then, I have to find the closed end waffle grips as they are on the parts list of things to get.

All in all, I think that I am going to like the look of the Helling bars on my project.

Thanks to all that helped me with this issue. I know that at times aftermarket parts is a crap shoot........but I was superised when one fits.....the other don't..just work it.

George, I found a reverse spiral when I went back to stock bars on my 51. In order to use a CV carb I needed the reverse (pull) type. Kick Start had them...616-245-8991 Get one of their catalogs, They carry mostly earlier parts but some stuff could be usefull.

OK,

Last question on this I hope...

Can I use the left side parts (timer control) on the right (throttle side) to come up with the same results....pull instead of push?

Keep in mind I am in Germany, and cheap... so if this combo will work, I am good to go with something I found here in Germany>

Can't do it George. Right and left spirals are the same, So if you have a push throttle and switch the timer side sleeve over you still have a push throttle!

Ron,

I am not sure but looking at photos at the Harley Hummer Parts website,

It looks like the part number for what I need is:

56220-47

Can I get a confirm on that part number from the fellas with the parts books?

Sorry George, just read all the posts and realised you have the early bars. The link I gave you is for the later bars.

Here is a great big;

THANK YOU !!!

To everyone that assisted me with this seemingly never ending topic..

From Robbie assisting with the positive ID on the bars being Hellings, to the ID on spirals/plungers and what I needed to get these bars repaired and useable.

To Ron, Panhead, Hauula Pan, Flatheadsix, and Panacea.

And to a nice German fella (that wishs to remain unnamed).....that hooked me up with a reverse spiral!!! Now, I have 2 options, Linkert with push pull, and modern carb if I choose with pull spiral!

Now to find horn, and headlight switch's and i'll be good to go! I just love it when I am able to take a part and fix it so it CAN be used again! This time around with better care.

You guys ROCK!!!

Trying to figure out these handlebars as well. I can find pictures of 49 handlebars as well as 54-59 handlebars but not 50-53. These are probably the 54-59 buckhorns with possibly extra holes drilled underneath the bottom throttle side ? I guess I need spirals , plungers ? , and grips to make these work ?
I have an S&S carb and read that you use the hummer right hand spirals for these but I see two different part numbers for it.
56380-47 and 56380-55 . Both parts say for throttle side. Never ran spirals before but I want to use these and my old 63 pan motor is running the manual timer.

Thanks.
