If you want the real McCoy, keep yoour eye on eBay, they come up every so often. Then have Perry Rueter or John Bordas restore it.

Re: 57 Speedo
Your all wrong. 57 is a one year only. It looks like the 56-60 but the tenth mile on the odmeter is red not white. This why they bring big money. Bob L

Re: 57 Speedo
Is it possible that the factory used what was on hand at the time? I have an original 57 (or so I thought) with white tenth mile. Re: 57 Speedo
Actually, my odometer has black background with white numerals and the tripmeter miles are black background with white numerals, 1/10 has white background with black numeral. 509FE on the backernietrucker wrote:Is it possible that the factory used what was on hand at the time? Re: 57 Speedo
I'll call Perry Rueter tomorrow and see if he has access to one..I checked E-Bay. Really don't need a Police speedo, unless that's the only thing around.... I would imagine that the odometer can be reset to 000000.0
If anyone comes across one, let me know....
Thank you......Dave

drop john bordas a line.
j.bordas@att.net
here is a shot of the ones he built for my '55 and '42 from scratch. very correct right down to the inked numbers on back! also included is a pic of a low mileage knuck speedo he serviced for a buddy.
and he is reasonable too!

Re: 57 Speedo
I know it doesn't jive with Palmer's but in my opinion, based on speedos I've worked on over the years, 53-55 used the same speedo (no white needle in 53, red trip in 55) and 56-57 used the same speedo (red trip on both). I've definitely seen original paint 56s with a red trip. The 56 in the factory museum is one of them ... PerryRobert Luland wrote:Your all wrong. 57 is a one year only.
