what was your first motorcycle?
I was just thinking about the first bike I bought & thought it would be cool to see where other forum members got their start in motorcycling. So I'll start. my first bike was a 1966 harley-davidson M-50. I worked all summer unloading haywagons when I was 12 for $25.00 to get it. I worked on it more than I got to ride it. My dad gave it away on me. Still bothers me. radar

1968 honda CL 350 Rode it in the woods. Heavy as shit for a 14 year old. My friends called it the thumper. Gas line came off the carb one day and it caught fire in the alley had to call the fire dept. to put it out. Broke my heart. Dad's friend then gave me a DKW 125 with a weird front end.

Re: what was your first motorcycle?
my first motorcycle was actually a bicycle with a motor, a 50's something Travis MotoWheel on a Schwinn. The whole thing mounted on the front fork on a pivot, there was a friction drive (I think it was stone like a grinder wheel) on the end of the crankshaft which rubbed directly on the top of the front tire. I spent a lot of time working on it to keep it running, and replaced a lot of front tires, but it was all fun. Sold it and bought a 48 Cushman bath tub with a 2 speed gearbox, MORE FUN!

Our grandpa let us ride some of his cushmans and a Honda Minitrail in the early and mid 70's but my true first bike was a 1980 sportster I bought in 85.

Re: what was your first motorcycle?
I had a french motobecane moped when I was 9(Dad found it in a trashpile) But the first actual motorcycle I ever had was a 42 WLA that I got from an old guy who had a little truck farm down the road from our house.I think I was 12 at the time.

Half owner of a '38 Indian back in the late fifties. Took 2 of us to start it... one to ride and start it while the other one drove the farm truck to pull it down the road.

Re: what was your first motorcycle?
Junior year in high school I bought a used & abused Honda 90. Got it cheap because it had no second gear.
Used it to go to school and my after school job. Rode it all winter. brrrrrrr.
Blew it up the following summer at the corner gas station pulling wheelies for the big guys.

.....had a Cushman eagle that I swapped a go-kart for....spent more time beside it than on it,it was a veritable "piece of junk" but it was MINE and I felt like BRANDO when I was able to keep it running long enough to ride it
