John!

Liberty has been refusing new motor and chassis accounts for a half-decade now, will not likely resume.... unless somebody wants to come in and take over.

I felt sorry for the old tramp when he came trudging up the alley pushing the rattling heap, so I let him chain it up out back until he figures out how to make it run.
And how to get a title.

My rat, Texas 2009. Rough trip from MD that year, ran a little hard (and the balance was off a bit) and less than 300 miles into the trip the right upper tank mount cracked (the keen-eyed will notice the bungie strap that held the tanks on for the rest of the trip). 3 minutes later I was back on the road. Then 500 miles later (same day, it was a long day) the solid fuel line snapped right under the fitting from the tank moving around (hey, bungies only work so well). Two hose clamps and a piece of 1/4" fuel line and back on the road. Then the rear Invader wheel cracked at the spoke and started leaking, had to put a tube from a Yamaha in. There was more, but you get the idea...

Did Cushman build those for Sears?, I noticed it has a starter just like the '48 Cushman I had a LONG time ago. And I like the security system, kind of like my old Sportster.

My old cushman had a BIG bath tub on it, you could get more than a 6 pack in the trunk, and 3 kids on the seat. It had a 2-speed gearbox, 6.00 x 6 tires, no front brake, and when I was 13 I thought it was the hottest thing on 2 wheels!

Mike, I also had a 52 Cushman when I was ten. I remember writing letters to Lincoln Nebraska begging for parts, non were avalible. The points were down to nothing. I loved that piece of shit till the end. The kicker was the coolest. Bob L

Nice picture, JR. Nice bike too.
Somewhere, I have a picture of me sitting on my old ratty Sportster, with my daughter tucked inside my jacket. I think she was around 3-4 months old then. Nowdays, I get accused of carrying her on the road that way! Never happened. Funny how memories get distorted over the years.
That would have been in the early '80s also.

Cotten!

At the risk of hijacking this thread, I do know a few things about Cushmans. I restored this 1951 model 64 last year

The place to start for parts and information is

B & B Motor Sports
Bert, Jane & Bert Jr. Barnett 1123 Mary Drive
Prattville, AL 36066

You will really enjoy talking to Bert.

Thanks Joe!

Now all I need to do is get Ol' Shiftless motivated.
(This time of year, he is rarely seen outside of the janitor's closet. For some reason, he is never around when I am.)
