1958-1959 headlight assy

#1

Post by hjans »

Hi
I'm looking to buy a complete hydra style headlightassy for my '59, wich would be the original.
Now it's equiped with a late style headlight assy ( '60-up, built '60)
Cannot find the partnumbers since the sparepartsbook is till '54 only.
Anyone can help me ?
Thanks

If you have the late-model -60 shrouded headlight assembly with nacelle, and wish to install the correct style headlight assembly for '59, you'll also need the front fork panel #46273-49A (slanted accent lines), Left back panel #46281-49, Right back panel #46283-49, and fork upper bracket cover #45740-49. A word of warning on the front fork panel---- the (ahem) "replicas" sold by V-twin are 1/4" shorter than OEM, and won't cover the tops of the fork slider covers (cow bells). You will also need the headlight mount bracket and fittings #67810-48A to mount the correct headlight bucket.

Tom, I used the V-Twin parts and had no shortage, I do know of a problem with using 60 up neck cups and bearings that will add up to about an eight inch extra height.Mike

Yes, I know about the bearing cups, Mike. I can put in my hands an OEM front panel and a V-Twin front panel, and show the difference with a tape measure. It's 1/4' difference in the panel itself.
