Is that big white hill behind the purple pan the one that spewed ashes all the way to Wisconsin?, or is that Rainier?

Its a great photo, thanks for the link to the National Park Service map. I wish we had places like that here in central Arkansas. Unfortunately all we have is prairie and delta, kinda sucks!

Washington state has almost as many unpronounceable Indian name places as where I grew up in Wisconsin.

Not a Pan but I have had my '44 UL since I put it together in '77. This was a couple weeks before Christmas this year.

I BOUGHT MY 1954 PAN FROM THE SECOND OWNER IN 1973. AT THAT TIME IT WAS A BOBBER. I CHOPPED THE LIVIN' BEEJESUS OUT OF IT IN 1975. SINCE 1980 I HAVE BEEN SEELING AND COLLECTING PARTS TO SORT OF RESTORE IT. IT WON'T BE A 100 POINT BIKE WHEN I'M DONE BUT PRETTY CLOSE. ALONG THE WAY I PICKED UP A 1948 SIDECAR. I JUST STARTED PUTTIN' PIECES TOGETHER IN JANUARYOF 2010. WISH ME LUCK AND WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS. AS I PROGRESS I WILL TRY TO POST SOME PICTURES.

I bought my 1948 UL in 1974 for $1800, didn't know a thing about it, just wanted a Harley. Fixed it up over the winter and wrecked it the next Spring. We started having kids and it sat for 31 years. Finally put it back together and ride it every day now! Glad I resisted the temptation to sell it over the years!

I have owned a few Pans in my time, but my girl I have now is my soulmate. I found her in 1991 in a barn up north, {yes, it's actually a harley in a barn story}. It was on a ranch, the farmer had traded a tractor for her, stopped running so he put her in the barn where she sat for about, {I believe it was about 15 years or so but can't be sure} I followed the rumours and stories about an' old Harley sitting in a barn{I've chased down all the stories I hear} and there she sat. She was dirty, rusty, looking so alone. I said,"There you are EllyMay" And that is her name. Took me a couple hours to get her running, she belched and farted, blew smoke, coughed, bitched and complained but I held on. Took her home and stripped her down and put her back together, front to back. Rebuilt every part of her with my own two hands. The only thing I didn't do myself was bore the cylinders, she was stock so I punched her out .010 over. I'm still riding her and she's my heart and soul. Anyways, I know, long story, just wanted to share it. I'm new here but this is a great forum. cole

I bought my 57 Pan in 1984 from a friend that T-boned a van that pulled out in front of him and paid the inflated price of $1100.00. It was already a custom chopper and after the accident, the only thing salvageable was the Engine ( left front motor mount broke), transmission, and the rear wheel.

At that time I owned a 69 sporty with a factory Mag for 8 yrs. and rode regularly with that Pan and others. I slowly put the bike back to custom. Purchased a 57 ridged frame 20 yrs ago molded the frame and put it together..Sold the Sporty for $2000.00 (God I wish I had that bike too)

Before the accident, the bike was raked, stretched and had a Girder front end (14 over). With the new (used) frame I bought, I had a HD Springer (6 over pre-reintroduced HD springer) with no shock. When a friends 1990 Bike was stolen, I bought his wide Glide front end and have been riding that ever since.

Hello everyone. I am embarrassed to admit I have not been to this "section". I have been missing a lot.
I bought my 1964 Pan in 1974. For $350.00. It looked like it been rode hard and put up wet for 30 years instead of 10 years. It has been with me for 36 years. Lots of changes. More than I feel like listing at this time.
In answer to the original question? 11/22/74.
36 years and counting. :D
