Re: 59 pan compesating sprocket question
I was also trying to make sense of the left hand thread but in my mind it would seem the anti clockwise rotation of the hub, just like the sprocket shaft on the motor, would give a snugging effect on the nut. So I'm obviously missing something...Mike

No Mike, you're right. In re-thinking it, I guess I do have it backwards!
That's happened a couple times now since turning 63......! lol
But it must have something to do with rotating mass.
I know the guy that will set us straight....

Re: 59 pan compesating sprocket question
I must confess I'm quite curious, however the only thought that I have would be that the engine braking effect of letting off throttle is probably more significant than the acceleration effect therefore that might assist in keeping that nut tight each time you decel?Panacea wrote:I was also trying to make sense of the left hand thread but in my mind it would seem the anti clockwise rotation of the hub, just like the sprocket shaft on the motor, would give a snugging effect on the nut. I just wonder what the difference is then with the engine sprocket, it also turns CCW, but is right handed...
