Re: Any good WL/WLA/G Projects going on
I recently worked on a new oil pump for a BTFH that had the same problem. I found that the hole below the seat area of the pressure relief ball was drilled off center enough that with a ball on the seat, you could see light coming from one side of the ball. I'm guessing that there is an entire manufacturing run that has the same problem.

WOW! I haven't dug that deep into the pump yet, but I will definitely check this! I purchased 2 brand new pumps form Flatland Motorcycle, unfortunately the first purchase was several years ago. But the 2nd pump I purchased on 18June was $295!! Still have not heard back from them on a refund.

Panzer, send me some high quality images to my e-mail like the one here, except a larger size. I'll make an argument with my rep and see what can be done. In the mean time, I'll pull the pumps from my site.
Just so you know, we always stand behind what we sell, we always have, and this is on my site, but there's limitations and how long we can warranty parts. I can't replace or warranty items sold several months or years after the sale because it's the manufacturer that warranties the item in the end. They have limits also, even if the item was never used. That said, Wendy & I have gone the extra mile to make sure things like this are addressed by the manufacturer and with this case in particular, that's definitely poor attention to detail and QA. It's a shame that much effort is put into an item only to have a machining error so small ruin it.
Get me those pics and I'll send them off to V-Twin. If you still have the original pump you purchased last year, take photos of that one also.

I guess wanted to see if anyone else has issues with this V-Twin pump like you.
I have another customer who has issue as well and he's sending pics also. The more evidence I can accumulate, a better chance I can get this issue solved....or at least I hope so. My rep is really good, however, he does pass things off to others.........that said, a good percentage of the time it gets resolved.

Re: Any good WL/WLA/G Projects going on
I will send a detailed report to your info@flatland email. I can't confirm that I bought the first oil pump from you because when you changed your web site all record of my past purchases were gone. The second pump was purchased on 18June and received on 27June from you. I have the 1st pump. Steve LeMay is sending my engine back, and hopefully he put the 2nd bad pump in the crate. Looking at the ball seat you can tell that these can't be repaired or re burnished. I had emailed Matt at V-Twin as per Wendy's instructions, but unfortunately, he didn't seem the least bit interested. For the record there was another person on this forum "flat38" who actually found the machine work errors. Steve LeMay said both pumps were bad but didn't specify what was wrong with them. Steve received my crated engine on 21July and told me that it was the 2nd engine in a week that he received with the same problem.
Hopefully V Twin will make good on this debacle.
It cost me a total of $1257.00 to ship my engine to Steve, and get it properly diagnosed and repaired.
Cheers!
Mike K

Yes, @flat38 is a neighbor of mine who helped me a lot with my '45 UL build. He contacted me a couple days ago that someone else was having the same problems with VT feed pumps as we found; namely that the seat machined in the pressure relief port was offset from the bore of the threads. I sent an email to @Kurt and Wendy at Flatland just yesterday, pointing out this thread.
