Duh
Too often I`m like a kid in a supermarket
Man there is this current thread by dontsink ... HS ... and of course others ... everywhere such shiny bikes ... and all I want is to make this rustbucket roll again ...
ok. you asked for it
Ray
The weather outside is so dreadful, the gasfire in my shack is so delightful, strapping the frame onto the stand ,to put inside the oiltank ....

Re: what are you doing today?
Installed a new RING Floodlight Camera with audio. Nice! In doing so when running new Romex through my attic vent, I snagged the old transformer wiring for the lighting of the house address numbers which are not used any more. They must have shorted together which shorted out my transformer 24VAC side and caused my front door Ring Video Doorbell to not function. The original wiring was from 1950 and the insulation had seen better days! I ended up running new 18 gauge thermostat wiring under the vinyl siding on my porch and into my garage. Relocated the new transformer there as well and relocated the doorbell chime my kitchen. All works great now. All that because I could not get into the attic area due to my Furnace return duct in the attic. What a hassle to run 2 new wires!

Re: what are you doing today?
Recently I dropped a 24 inch dia. red oak with my 16 inch Stilh next to the driveway. Wanted the stump below the drive surface but chain link fence just behind the tree. Pushed that away OK, but the stump had lots of old wire in the last 6 inches. Broke 2 chains but got most of it! Finished by beating it with a splitting maul, and chopping with a camp axe. Successful and cheaper than a stump grinder hire.

The sidecar tug has been brought into the shop for some well deserved winter maintenance!

Re: what are you doing today?
At least yours is assembled
Looking comfy and just the look of your stove makes me feel better.
Messing with the tank here.
The rod of the fuel shut off valve is bent. The stretch from the thread on the rod towards the tip. Some .024.
The rod seals perfectly with rod and valve seat only outside the tank.
Rod and seat installed into the tank I`m wondering how I was able to almost close the shut off valve, that hard it turns
Tried to straighten the rod in the lathe but with 29F inside my shack incl the chuck, tools ... the cold beats age.

Old, used oil filters burn a long time in a wood stove, might smell a bit in the house but in the shop they’re ok.

Replacing the wiper motor and actuating linkage on my 2010 Corolla. Bad time to not have wipers. Found a great You Tube video showing exactly what to do and the job is actually very simple once you know where the hidden fasteners are for all the plastic covers that go over the assembly and attach to the firewall.

Re: what are you doing today?
New rubber on the rear. Got 20K out of the last Dunlop, so that's what went back on. Guy in town has a side business hole in the wall shop, does tires and wheels. Change tire and balance for $25 bucks... and he replaced the stem. Can't beat that with a stick. Several years ago, I made the mistake of having local HD service simply mount new tire on bare rim. 1 hr later I was billed for $100. Pretty sure he was done in 15 minutes...

Re: What are you doing today?
Very 1st ride with my 51FL , tankshift, manual advance and hand brake lever on the left.
Living here in a not anymore quiet hood. Plenty soccormoms barreling thru this 12ft wide street plus too many Edith Bunkers eyeballing their smartphones
I have no safety sticker/rego yet
The plan .. was to target the parking lot of the cemetery 300 yrs afar so it`s not too far in case shit happens LOL, shifting thru, checking the brakes.
I need to turn to the left ... stalled the engine ... back into neutral. Want to kick her back alive and the kicker has zero resistance
WTF ? Belt torn ? Kicker ratchet gone ?
Pushed it back, scratching my head and then I saw the rockerclutch disengaged
2nd try.
First gear accelerating alil ... grrrr ... why she doesn`t move ?
Took a few seconds til I realized that I released the brake lever instead of the rockerclutch
Finally I`m rumbling along, accelerating more , carb spitting on my leg Forgot to pull the manual advance .... crunching into 2nd gear
hitting maybe 20mls I`m approaching a crossing where I need to give right of way ... idiot cager is slower than I am cannot believing it
Hitting the rear brake .... damn ... this is bad ... front brake is pretty good with 20mls ... at the parking lot turning around ... playing alil with the rockerclutch ... twist of the wrist yiha .... check on the rear brake again .... suddenly a scratching noise .... oh my ...
rear chain tearing the fender apart ? Not giving a damn I was screaming into my street with some 20mls and into my yard.
Turned her off, looking around and found the rear stand scratching on the ground oil drops following me
Haven`t hit 3rd and 4th nor going wot. Don`t wanna waste too much time on going too slow cause new pistons inside and I rebuild the 3+R trans into a straight four.
Bended the spring for the rear stand at the fender flap = solved.
Almost closed the supply for the primary chain. It`s venting onto the secondary chain anyway but it was pissing bad = need to test again
The brake drum in the rear is an old Paugho. New Paugho drums offered overhere are all too deep And the sprocket is off center really, really bad
Returned 2 of them to the dealer
So I installed a new sprocket on the old drum but haven`t turned it on the lathe = need to do
Still chuckling about my modern times adventures
