Can someone clear this up. 1941-54 parts book shows 24699-37 gear shaft seal ring spring 1939-54 ALL twins, then on the next line, 24700-37 seal ring spring 1937-48 74" and 80". ​
WTF????
I have some the 24699-37 springs . They fit nicely on the 24007-39 39-53 OHV pinion shaft and the 24006-37 BTSV pinion shaft, but are loose as a goose on the much smaller diameter 45 pinion shaft

Look at the photos, 24699-37 is used on 45" and overhead, 24700-37 is used on 74" & 80" flathead.
24699-37 slips over 24696-39 on 45".
