I did it again.....

Because I don't have enough projects that will never get done, I bought another bike. I got this 52 FL from a good friend of mine. It isn't all original but it has a great look and it runs. I will probably eliminate the mag and go back to a battery since I have never ran a mag before. I still have to go pick it up once my friend picks up his 47EL in my garage and I make room for it. I don't have complete photos of the bike, these are just some screen shots I took off his Instagram. I'm excited to add another bike to my growing fleet, I have to count them up again but I think I have 9 right now.

You realize addiction can be a problem? But that looks decent, and if the price was right…. Soon to be “Pete’s antique motorcycle outlet of Hawaii”. but then you would have to part with something.

Finally was able to go pick the bike up. Here are a couple pics as it sits. The right side tank needs a repair so I will run it with other tanks for now. Bike came with a bunch of parts, also grabbed a 67 Shovel motor. Hope to get to it sometime soon, maybe even before the end of the year.

On your photo showing the primary case and exhaust ,it shows the left exhaust going between the rear cylinder and oil tank. On the picture of the right side of the bike it shows the exhaust with a Y which goes up ward towards the rear cylinder . The Y must have a port that the left exhaust hooks to. ??
I have similar pipes that came off a *( supposedly ) restored 1961 FLH, I'm thinking of using these pipes on a 1959 FLH I'm slowly re assembling to look original. But my books don't show them being used until around 1965. All I find for 1959 are the left side going to rear cyl, and the right side from the front cyl, no cross over . Do you have any info on these pipes ,and when they were used .?

Sorry I do not have any info on these pipes, they came on the bike like this. I haven't really had a chance to look this thing over other then the oil leak issue I'm having. I'm sure the guys on the forum can chime in with the correct info though.

My parts manual shows that down pipe with the stub for a left hand muffler pipe being # 65496-61, and applied to 1958-65 Panheads....
You OK with that?

A '59 did not have interconnected duals. The factory rear pipe for '58-'60 Duo-Glides is one piece from port to muffler ans is very similar in appearance to the -54 Dual except for slight bend differences to align properly with a swing arm frame.

Keep in mind that parts books are often misleading especially as they get further from the build date, and are sometimes outright wrong.
By perseverance and dedication I now have almost every printed parts book and supplement from 1925-the mid 70s for Big Twins, 45s (WLA WLC and G and WRs included), XAs, Ks (including KRs), Sportsters (including XRs), Lightweights, and even Golf Cars and Toppers. I also have every issue of the H-D "Enthusiast" from 1920-current, every year sale s info from the mid 20s up to about '70, every accessory catalog from the late 20s up to about '70, Many hundreds of period magazines (Motorcyclist, American Motorcycling, Cycle, Buzzzz, Cycle World, and lots of oddballs). Tons of foreign make stuff as well.
And throughout all their are still mistakes, wrong entries, etc. So it is important to check, and double check, all info. As well as the sources of the info. The modern internet is rife with BS.

So, Pete, if you want to use that down pipe with the tap for the for a left side dual exhaust pipe & muffler, do feel free to do so. It's your bike, and you only have to please yourself.

And the MoCo regularly physically change parts, but don't change part number, still fit & work, but different appearance to what rolled off assembly line.

Nifty
