I think it was mentioned a few years ago that the terminal board on the front should have the wires connecting to it on the back , not the front . Can someone confirm this ?

Did you look in appropriate service manual?
Did you look in the Knowledge Base?
Did you use the search function?
Given the design of the stainless covers, how do you think it would work?

Both front and back are used in on one side out on other specific schematic with your motor should be followed i.e. police has extra wiring

Panheadrider1961
Poster states 59, which has a separate headlight and stainless covers, terminals face to rear so they can be accessed via 3 screws and RH rear panel, without removing headlight and front cover.
60up switched to terminals facing front so they can be accessed from front after removing lamp unit of aluminum nacelle.
