over-hung horizontal ears

Thee are far more fragile and prone to cracking than their appearance suggests.
Much damage to the head has occurred from incorrect valve guides, coil bind etc.

Panhead rockers have a slight advantage in that the geo of each set (1 rocker + its valve) one may be adjusted/corrected separately by altering the box height.
