XA springer
I’ll look it up in the books, but someone wants to trade me an XA springer. My question is was the XA 1 in or 7/8 in stem ?

Re: XA springer
Be careful with the XA term. Several types of Springers are the 2-3/8" longer version, however not all are XA. XA is indeed 1", but the same fork with a 7/8" stem was used on '40 and some '41 WLAs. Both have 7/16" holes for the rockers. ELCs use a 1" stem with 1/2" holes for BTtype rockers. Lots of guys just call all the long forks XAs but there are far more WLA sets out there although all are rare. And then of course there are modern repops....
This pic shows the length difference, It is obvious at the top of the rear legs at the lower tree.

Re: XA springer
Thank you. He’s going to send me pics. He’s only 30 min away so I might be able to measure in person

Re: XA springer
And to compliment Robbies answer; there are long straight and long forward swept forks.
The latter was used on 40WLA and 41WLA type I, the straight long forks (+2") were used on 41WLA type II's and XA's
