1949 WL - Footboard Extensions

#1

Post by 1962300 »

Question....

The optional Footboard Extensions (for use with a buddy seat)....
I understand how they clamp onto the rear quarter section of the factory footboards.

BUT....
The Right Side Extension seems to NOT be able to mount because of the Brake Pedal Stoplight Switch hardware.
The Extension needs to slide forward (to cover the rear quarter of that footboard), but it cannot; as it hit the hardware.
If I mount the Extension further back on the footboard, the Extensions undercount does not clear the Footboard Hinge.

Am I crazy?
Thanks!

Whether you are crazy or not isn't for me to judge. Whether the extension fits correctly or not is up to how the said brake light hardware is mounted. there is no issue with factory mounting.

Ha!!
I am reading in the Palmers that there may be a longer footboard hinge pin for the right rear board, when using a buddy seat.
I think I have the brake hardware all cobbled together correctly. I think....
Thanks!

The long hinge pins and bolts are for Big Twins using the "S" shaped passenger peg brackets and has nothing to do with using footboard extensions.
Standard 45 passenger pegs screw directly onto the ends of the cross shaft when they are used.

Does this brake hardware set up appear correct?
Me thinks it may be the Right Footboard Pins might be on the wrong ends of the footboard. I may need to swap them; so the footboard is spaced out further to then accommodate the extension.
Thanks!

No, I think it should be rotated 90 degrees to the right.

WHAT part (or parts) should be rotated 90 degrees to the right?
