I still believe altering the bracket is the better way to go as the seat is the more critical/costly item, and has already been messed with. If the bracket is skillfully widened no one will ever notice it. And if they do, it's because he is sticking his nose where it don't belong, and deserves a kick in the arse, no?

I Tig welded the bolt to it's new position
