Distributer/circuit breaker removal question

#1

Post by doc308 »

I am aware that with earlier model panheads, one could remove the circuit breaker without removing the front head and that this isn't possible with later years. My question is--in what year model did this change?

You still need to separate the head from the base though.

 ooops.... I just removed my circuit-breaker last week on a 1962 FLH. Unscrewed the screws and easily pulled it out. How is that possible?

I recall pulling a circuit breaker out of a ‘50 panhead without disassembling it.

Did the 62 have the original big fin heads? It likely is sporting earlier heads. Or someone has previously removed the offending fins.

You may also need to either un-clip the front pushrod cover, or remove it entirely to have room to exfil the dizzy....

I can change out the circuit breaker on my 64, without goofing with head. Stock and no broken fins.
