Servi car rear axle adjusters

#1

Post by panzer45 »

I’m installing The rear axle on my G model servi car. I have a question about the rear axle chain adjuster. Does the head of the adjuster sit inside the axle clamps? Or does it just rest against the outside of the axle clamp face.

Adjuster has two heads. One goes in and one out to make it a push or pull. Why do you have the rear end out? Hope I never need to but free information is always helpful.

Thanks so much for your reply!!! That makes sense, push or pull. I've built my G model from the frame up. I literally started with just a frame. I've been working on this project for 2 years and I'm in the final assembly stage. Everything has been rebuilt, engine, trans and rearend completely. Not sure how to add photos on this forum or I'd post them all. The rear end was a bit tricky, parts are extremely hard to find. And my local machine shop had to fabricate a axle bearing removal socket. Thanks again!!!!

Nice work.

What bulb are you using for the speedometer lighting?

Looks like a good choice and lights up the speedometer nicely

I'm using a common 3 volt LED with a inline resistor and a custom mount.

LED Resistor Calcuation
R= (Vs - Vf) / lf
Soooo,
6.8 volts - 3.2 volts (led) = 3.6 volts / 250ma = .0144
This means you use a 14 ohm resistor.
I may have ended up using a 10ohm for the final product, but it was a while ago so I don't remember.
Cheers!
