Sugar Bear sez:
".... both sets of legs (front and back) were to be made from round material only, resulting in a clean and simple design. "

Re: 1950 Servicar questions
Started cleaning up the rim a little bit and can now make out "Dunlop" "Made in England" "MC.17" on it. Did they manufacture aftermarket rims or make them for a motorcycle manufacturer?

Re: 1950 Servicar questions
Dunlop made rims for a variety of manufacturers as well as for sale to the general public. The 17" sizes were popular for a short time on choppers. They handle really poorly due to their size.1957flhchop wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 7:35 pm Started cleaning up the rim a little bit and can now make out "Dunlop" "NC17"(or NG17, can't tell for certain) on it. Re: 1950 Servicar questions
The 17" wheels were the brain child of Tom McMullen, he featured them in his TRM series of magazines and to boost sales of his crap from AEE choppers....

Re: 1950 Servicar questions
I was really confused as to why it said "MC.17" on the wheel. The tire is a 3.00-18

Re: 1950 Servicar questions
Not to hijack this thread but the mention of AEE choppers brought up a question I have had for years . I never saw the trike but always wondered how they hooked up a automotive automatic transmission in that trike . If this needs to be moved or scratched then so it go's .
thanks

Re: 1950 Servicar questions
OH yea , all the Sugar Bear springers have had the large curved lower rockers . I have a similar springer that came on my Servi when I got it . If anyone wants I can see if I can dig it out & get a pic or two .

Re: 1950 Servicar questions
My bad I forgot the link , once you see the pic you'll remember seeing it in mag's . There's one pic in the link that shows some of the engine/transmission but not enough for me to see how they did it
