Servi Car rear spoke wheels .

#1

Post by animal12 »

I started doing some looking for rear wheels for my Servi project . I'm wondering about the hubs for rear spoke wheels . All my searches come up with a ton of hubs , but none of them are for Servi's . DO you folks know of a source for rear hubs ? I have a 5 bolt juice brake rear end . I'm wondering if it may be cheaper to buy hubs , rims & have them laced up then give Ted $1200.00 for some imports . I figure any repop is a no brainer that they are going to spend some time on a trueing stand .
thanks .

There were never factory spoke rear wheels on juice rear ends. Spoked wheels ended in '50 with mechanical brake rear ends. All juice rear ends had stamped steel automotive type wheels.
Early Servi-Car hubs are solid with a taper machined in and a keyway, they do not have bearings. They attach to the axle extension just like many autos of the day.
If you want spoke wheels on a juice rear end you need to buy automotive spoked wheels for a Ford or Chrysler pattern, and none will be anything like a stock Servi-Car wheel.

Thanks , looks like I'll be going with steel wheels . I have a guy below my place that has a container with a bunch of re pop Model A type spoke wheels
like these & I looked at them but they seemed like they were awful heavy . Maybe I should relook into those .

I just found these which I like , when you click on the size there's a long list of sizes, bolt pattern & offsets . I'll post this in the thread from earlier about Servi wheels also
