This Kibblewhite link should help. Roll down the drop-down box for each oversize to confirm spec

Re: 1963 FLH panhead valve guide
Ok so standard is 0.5650”. I just pulled all my brass guides from both of my heads for a valve job. And I’m measuring the ones I pulled out and they are measuring 0.5580
How is this possible?
Thanks

Re: 1963 FLH panhead valve guide
It looks like my friends micrometer was not accurate. Maybe worn. So I used my own micrometer and they measure between .002 and .008 over. I’ve ordered some guides for replacement.
My next question is: what happens when you need over .008 size vale guides? I only see in my parts book, sizes that go up to .008 oversize. Over 8, are the heads junk or is there an insert ?
Thanks
Dav e
