Bad news in Germany

#1

Post by George Greer »

Around midnight on Monday the 13th of this month, my stepdaughter’s live in boyfriend had a heart attack.

He has been in ICU and on a ventilator since then.

Contracted pneumonia and has kidney issues, and a fever that they have not been able to pinpoint the cause of the fever.

Now, his heart function is only 20% .

Not looking good for him at the moment and I just need to get it off my chest.

I am worried sick about him, stepdaughter and the granddaughter.

For the granddaughter:

He is the only dad she has ever known and thankfully her real P.O.S dad is not now in the picture.

It is going to be a rough road for him, if he survives this.

Might be needed a transplant, but we don’t know yet.

Had to vent a bit, cuz I don’t know what to do.

Youall be safe.

George

Nothing wrong with 'venting' your concerns with friends (even cyberspace friends).
Doing my best to send good thoughts and prayers your way.

My wife and I want to thank everyone for the well wishes, but still not looking good.

Had to air transport him to the next higher level hospital in Würzburg, where they have a machine that they hooked him up to so that he could breathe and filter his blood, trying to relieve some pressure on his heart.

Did not work so well, so the performed a tracheotomy, and he is breathing a bit easier,

Bad part… during a scan, they found a pulmonary embolism in his lung.

We are hopeful he gets better, but it’s not looking good.

If he does survive, he still has a short life expectancy.

Again, thanks everyone for the well wishes.

Sorry to hear of your daughter's boyfriend's situation, George. I'm guessing the guy is relatively young, at least a lot younger than us old farts.

And now the daughter told us yesterday, that he is hooked on a dialysis machine, kidneys shutting down.

Dang.
