Hey everyone, it's been a while. I have been away from the hobby for a bit and focusing on my other hobby which is vintage baseball cards. Can't afford two expensive hobbies at one time. Well yesterday I picked up a really nice 1 owner 1984 FXE from the guy who bought it on 04/30/19484. Bike came with the original title, sales receipt (only $6700 otd), warranty registration, advertisements from 1984, 30+ years of receipts and maintenance records, etc. The gas tank is original paint and flawless, unfortunately the fenders have been painted over the years and a couple things have been changed out but overall it's a great bike. Runs amazing. I have to get rid of the ape hangers asap. Owner put an S&S carb on it back in the day and AKRONT rims, along with an oil cooler, modern hand controls and switches, turn signals and a new horn. He gave me the original seat that has a small tear in it. Overall it is a great bike in great shape and the best part it was only $4400. Going to change the bars and seat when I get a couple bucks and just ride it for now. I also picked up 3 other bikes since I've been active on the pages but not vintage, the oldest being a 1992 FXLR from my friend that was moving to the mainland and needed the cash to move. It's nice to be back.
I took some pics next to my co-workers 1984 FLH, he bought my 1959 FLH from me as well.
Sorry for the sideways pic, I can't get it to work correctly.

I mocked up some bars I had in my garage that I think will work on the bike, I also had a slim seat that I threw on until I get the original fixed. I'm going to tilt the bars back some when I put them on, I don't like how far forward they are in the photo, also going to cut a few inches off the sides so they are more narrow. I might raise the suspension an inch or two as well since I was scraping in the turns yesterday on the way home.

I always really liked those tanks. I had one on my pan chopper. Very easy to install and remove, plus if you run out of gas you can just take the tank off and bring it to a gas station. Mine was signed for me by John Entwistle, the late great bass player of the Who, after a show. He also drew a cartoon spider on it (as in the Who song "Boris the Spider"). The signature and spider were done with a gold permanent marker on the black tank. I didn't want it to get ruined by gas and general use, and I'm afraid to clear coat it because I don't know how it will react, so it sits on a shelf in our bedroom.

Put on some shorter bars, changed the pipe and fixed the stock seat. Unfortunately I broke a spoke while riding so I need to take some time to replace that, hopefully sooner then later. Looks nice in it's current state and rides well.
