I remember late 80's bikes ( I think it was) HD used a cheap cam bearing , it would seize up and rip the side out of the engine. When I replaced the cam in my 1991 I made sure it was a Timkin bearing I used . I think the old one was already a Timkin anyway.
I'm just wondering which tyears had that bad bearing .
Evo engines
several years of Evos had bad cam bearimngs

Re: Evo engines
It needs to be a full complement Torrington style thin shell needle bearing just like the later Pans and Shovels used, not the later INA bearing, that had spacers between the fewer needles.....

Re: Evo engines
HD continued or went back to doing this. It was one of the weak spots on my 08 110 twin cam motor. I changed the inner cam bearings from caged rollers to full rollers because this was pointed out.

Re: Evo engines
Yes, you are correct . I said Timkin bearing when as you pointed out it is the Torrington bearing that I should have said was the proper one to use .
