Re: Paugho frame for 45"
Against my better judgement:
1. The final drive ratio always includes the transmission sprocket tooth count.
2. Why do you need a foot clutch?
3. What size stem, what type cup does the frame accept?
4. There are no provisions on that frame for the strap-mounted side controls used on every 45. What were you going to do?
5. There don't appear to be tank mounts.
6. Even the stock 45 1-1/2" pipes are too large, don't use Paughco's $pecial stepped pipes.
7. "Try out some performance mods" Click here for some of what's been done: http://victorylibrary.com/45PER.htm http://victorylibrary.com/stroker3.htm

Re: Paugho frame for 45"
The Buell fork fits. No frame modification needed.
I would prefer a hand clutch, foot shift like a modern bike if possible.
S'pose I need a mousetrap for that.
I'm finding it harder to find answers in the Harley world compared to the Triumph/BSA world.
The parts and repair manuals also harder to decipher but some of that is learning curve.

Just think of it like you are trying to build a bike with an M20 engine with an aftermarket frame, an A10 gearbox, and Triumph T140 running gear.nanonevol wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 1:07 am The Buell fork fits. No frame modification needed.

Re: Paugho frame for 45"
A mousetrap wold be tricky to fit on a single down-tube frame. Not to worry, The MoCo lost the MT in 1968 and went to the eliminator style cable operated clutch, I would expect you to use that set up also,,,,,
Good on the Buell fork fit up....

Re: Paugho frame for 45"
So I need the transmission top part for a foot shifter.
Then I will need to find out how and where to mount foot pegs and pedals. The Solo had a square frame under the motor that the footboards and pedals mounted to. Don't think I want footboards. Maybe fab something simpler. Open to suggestions!
Will also need to weld on tank mounts.
I wonder what Paugho suggests for all this. I think I'll try to contact them again.

I have several ratchet tops, both FL or FX types if that is what you are looking for.nanonevol wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 4:32 pm So I need the transmission top part for a foot shifter.

Re: Paugho frame for 45"
If you are going to go with a disc brake rear wheel, to take advantage of the many sprocket ratios available, you will need to mount a master cylinder somewhere too. This is going to be so much fun as all your bracketry and linkages will need to be custom fabricated to both look good and function well.

Yes, good point. The caliper too. I've saved a whole bunch of photos of other peoples 45" builds I try to refer to.RooDog wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 5:30 pm If you are going to go with a disc brake rear wheel, to take advantage of the many sprocket ratios available, you will need to mount a master cylinder somewhere too. No, it didn't, as I already explained:
4. There are no provisions on that frame for the strap-mounted side controls used on every 45.
These are the controls, they attach to the ends of shafts which pass through 2 loops on the frame (which yours doesn't have).
Your frame has the motor mounts offset well to the left, so the original shafts won't work.

Re: Paugho frame for 45"
Right, that's what I meant by a "square frame".
Paugho suggests "fabricate something". Not many examples using their frame to be found online but did get these two.
Hard to see what's going on with this one:
Something like this would work. Would have to be strongly welded by a pro:

Re: Paugho frame for 45"
Here's a Paugho part FHCB200 for forwards I had not seen on their site before.
I believe it may bolt/weld under the front motor mount. Just what I need.

Re: Paugho frame for 45"
Something like that would allow you to use standard Big Twin control parts. Is it intended to bolt to the front motor mount plate in the frame? It appears the holes are offset for such a purpose.

Kitabel,
Could I ask you where you got those items?
Getting back to my long lasting WLA/KH project and I need something like this
Thanks in advance, George

Re: Paugho frame for 45"
The pedals shown are standard for every Servi-Car from '47-'73. The solo models used a rocker type clutch pedal until the end in '52.George Greer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 3:07 pmSorry for the intrusion, kitabel wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 8:59 pm The Solo had a square frame under the motor that the footboards and pedals mounted to
