K & N air filter cleaning ?

#1

Post by neilw »

I have an aftermarket air breather on my 1991 FXSTS . I has a K & N air filter .

The filter s just like the ones that sat on top of carberators in cars that used to have them.

Mine is round maybe 4 or 5 inches across the center opening , and maybe 2 inches high . It has the usual K & N pleats . I'm not going to buy the kit that they sell, and plan on using products I have right here .

iI'm thinking of washing it off with kerosene , and blowing it out with air pressure , then washing it again in soapy water untill the kerosene is washed off , then letting it dry over night .
I have a can of K&N air filter spray oil , I can spray it with once it's clean.
I'd like any advise anyone has .. !
Thanks ,Neil

Good dish soap and water, no need for the kerosene.
