Head light mounting bracket
Signing in for my next flogging. I have looked for over an hour and a half
to try and find a diagram of this bracket to frame and cannot find anything. The holes are significantly larger than the bolts telling me I am missing something? Grommets? You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Head light mounting bracket
The large holes are for two piece rubber bushings as anti vibration mounts. I have used lower shock mounting bushings speced for an early Mustang...
You need part numbers?
Perhaps you should get a hold of an official Harley parts manual....

Rubber-mounting of the bracket was announced in the September 1954 issue of The Enthusiast.

Re: Head light mounting bracket
The Colony Motunting Kit 2108-12 has hard plastic bushings , absolutely no flex or vibration absorbing ability. The original bushings from the MoCo were red rubber, probably impossible to find today. This is why I used the early Mustang lower front shock bushings. They are stepped, like the OEM pieces, and fit quite nicely....

As pictured there, they fit the 5/16 headlmp bracket fasteners, I used studs rather than bolts, but that really doesn't matter much once it is all assembled....

Re: Head light mounting bracket
I used the colony set for my pan project
panhead 1955
as RooDog says it's a solid mount no flex the mustang bushings are probably a better idea if you need some shock absorbing

Re: Head light mounting bracket
The HL brackets them selves are different between with or without the bushings. Other than the bolt hole sizes, the hard mounted bracket has a rolled edge, the soft mounted one has a flat perimeter. Taiwan Tedd's V-Twin uses the same stamping for both, only varying only the hole sizes, consequently the large holed one does not work well with the bushings, Best not to buy from him if you desire to soft mount your headlight.....

Gentlemen,
I just got back from a work trip to see your replies---thank you. What I am having a difficult time with is finding the information you provide me. I downloaded the owners manual and there just isn't a lot in there. Where can a find a complete parts diagram/manual for a 58 panhead duo-glide as I am about as green as they come and am going to have questions on every step of this. With a good parts diagram I can figure out an awful lot with out having to bug you all.

Re: Head light mounting bracket
If you look on this site under documentation a drop box will take you to parts books, service manuals, wiring diagrams etc. Also the knowledge base has archived threads covering almost everything you can think of.
You can start with those.....

The factory books, either original or reprints show up on eBay on a weekly basis, just keep checking back until you score yourself a pair....
