Fuel valve unknown and leaking
Hi all,
I have some questions regarding the fuel valve, which is installed on my 1955 Hydra Glide.
1. Does anyone knows which type it is? I am looking for spare parts and cannot find a similar typ.
2. The fuel line connector is leaking when it is installed. Is it possible to work with teflon band, to seal it. Or is teflon band not suitable for gasoline?
Thanks
Markus

Sorry Markus but that is homemade so anything you do will have to be made up, no factory parts.

Try this product.
https://www.frost.co.uk/brake-pipe-seal-75ml/
I’ve been using it for years for petrol and oil and also for water connections around the house. It’s not cheap but lasts for years.

Re: Fuel valve unknown and leaking
Markus, exactly where is the leak? Would it be the tubing flare nut on the bottom? You may have a crack in the tube's flare. And no, teflon tape doesn't hold up to gasoline.

Re: Fuel valve unknown and leaking
Bone Head has a point there, in that any of the metal parts could be cracked and leaking not just the screw threads. Personally I do not use Teflon tape any where as it is tricky to work with, for me, I prefer the liquid Teflon sealer, looks like tooth paste, easier to apply, and I can wipe away the excess that squeezes out of the fitting. Copper sealing washers are good for the banjo fittings.
Perhaps a little UV dye in your petrol would help pinpoint the actual location of the leak, just a thought....

Hi RooDog and Bone Head,
I just saw that one of the threads was wet. Will again look for cracks.
Thanks
Markus

Re: Fuel valve unknown and leaking
That is a good picture but the wrong valve, he needs a '50 up rubber sealed type for his '55.

Early and Late fuel valves. Later style is on right in both pictures. Uses straight line with rubber insert.
