timing Marks
I am new to this forum but have found so many answers to questions that I see others have already put out there. I'm building a perfectly mis-matched panhead, that will never win any awards, but she's still mine. I have a '63' FL motor in a '55 frame and parts from several different years. I'm now down to the final stages. the bike has been converted to a 12 volt system with a Mallory 556 Unilite Ignition. looking for clarification on the flywheel timing marks, that I should be using to set the timing to. there is a single line mark, following by a double line mark and then a dot. lots manuals all show the single line but also have been told to use the DOT. Can anyone give me the right answer. I'm 18 months into this build and looking to get her buttoned up.. The Old Guy

Re: timing Marks
61 to 64 flywheels have timing marks for front (marked F) and rear (marked R) for dual point systems.
Double line started in 65, single line is full advance for front cylinder.

Re: timing Marks
well just learned something new again today, thanks, so I well use the DOT after the double line as a starting point and work from there.
Thanks
