Spiral push vs spiral pull

#1

Post by duff2691 »

Hi All,
I've gone and used a 1949 (I think) glide handlebar on a WL project bike I'm building, only to discover that the throtle spiral pushes instead of pulls. Does anyone know if there's an easy way to change the spiral to one that pulls, or do I need to look for a different handlebar??
Thanks in advance.

All H-D spirals for Linkert carbs push, no matter what model of bike it is. There are pull spirals that were made for the lightweights (125/165) that are often interchanged to run Bendix, S&S, Keihin, and other pull carbs.
There are also left handed spirals for WLC and right hand shift BTs and Servi-Cars. Without seeing your bars who knows what you might have. There are different styles of spirals over the years on Hydra-Glide bars.

Are you referring to "push" as the throttle turning clockwise, if so just replace the spiral

Thanks a lot for the advice, way more helpful than I got from some of the better know spares suppliers.
