I posted in a old thread in parts wanted but then thought not many people read all new posts and may not see it.
Does anyone know what size thread the 58R generator armature shaft and nut is? part # 4 in the diagram below. There is a bit of wear on the thread on the shaft and the nut. I would like to clean these up a bit. Just a few little details and this generator will be ready to test. Also would anyone know what the Harley part number is for the fan baffle plate is? Item # 10.... Or have one to sell?

Re: 58R generator
Same nut as on the 32E, 5/16 fine if memory serves. Might have the baffle plate, I picked up a parts fan genny at a swap meet a couple of weeks ago, sat in water, pretty well setup. I'll check it out if I can remember.
Good gennys, I take a bit of air cleaner foam and place it inside each of the external "air scoops" to keep down on the dust collected inside the genny housing. Like any HD 6 volt genny, It could be converted to 12Volt use with the installation of 65a generator fields and your favorite 12 volt regulator. With an easy 18 amps @ 12 volts available (126watts), bright lights, grip warmers, many accessories would be possible.
As a reminder, check fit of the fan shroud, no binding, and keep the 3 spider/shroud screws tight to avoid cracking the spider.

Re: 58R generator
Thanks for the reply. I bought the baffle plate off e bay Friday. Just waiting for it to arrive. The nut and shaft were 3/8ths fine thread. Good suggestion on the foam. There was a lot of grit inside when I took it apart. I ended up making a new spider due to only having a broken one to start with. Drilled and tapped the three mounting screw holes last night. 12- 24.

Re: 58R generator
The Baffle plate came yesterday. Seeing it on now, it really separates the fan area and will direct the air draw from the holes in the spider.
