Quick wiring question
Hello all , well I tore down the 61 pan last week . I had to get rid of that expensive aftermarket wiring harness it was causing me all kind of problems like burning switches exc.... Well ong story short I retired using the good old fashioned original wiring harness. Everything is done and working properly except the oil pressure switch light . I followed the diagram in my clymers which said the orange wire from the switch to 42 behind the coil and yellow from 42 up to the 7 post on ignition plate . The problem I have is the light won't come on unles I ground the wire with my test light that came from 42 behind the coil . I tried a second new switch and the same thing happens am I missing something ... Any help would be appreciated...

Re: Quick wiring question
Unmade switch should provide ground i believe.
Having trouble posting pictures of the factory diagrams. Orange... should be green according to factory.

Green in and yellow out got that part and what I can't figure out is the wire coming out from the bottom of the bulb housing where does it go ..... The factory wire on the housing goes to hot post on the switch plate then hot to switch ....

Ok, so Yellow on 7 to 42.
Green from 42 to the oil switch. That should make the ground when there is no pressure on the switch.

.... and of course the oil switch needs to be screwed in and grounded at that point.panhead_kicker wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2018 4:40 amOk, so Yellow on 7 to 42.

Re: Quick wiring question
Now I do have Teflon tape on the switch to keep it from leaking should I not have any on the threads for the switch.
