Generator restoration

#1

Post by 1951 adam »

I just wanted to share my experience dealing with Rich Brown sr. and his son . Rich did a few generators for a friend and the workmanship and attention to detail is top notch. I picked up a good core to send him , and what he does is replace the armature for Harley cores he has rewound to his spec's , and sets them up with 52e fields and all sealed bearings for a proven , long lasting pretty much no maintenance setup. I rebuilt my old 32e and had no issues, but after talking to the Browns I was sold on the process they use . And the restoration quality is tip top .
I would highly recommend them , and for the price the peace of mind of a quality product and workmanship is well worth the price .

I've always planned on doing my own (and I still may), but Adam has just about got me convinced to send mine out to these guys.
Super nice, Adam!

The casting shouldn't be bead blasted. They were as cast finish.

Rich Brown advertises in the AMCA magazine; if you're a member, just look in the back of the magazine.
If you're not a member, you can join any time. Costs $40 a year, but you get a copy of the high-quality magazine every other month, which is well worth the membership fee alone.

I have spoken to Rich many times and he's been doing them since the 70's . I am very happy with the extra output from his armatures , very noticeable.
