Newbie buys wrong part, can some wise person ID
I bought this rear nos Eagle tip for my 55FLH. When it arrived, I rushed to the garage to fit it, and found it is way too big.
Could someone please tell me what this tip is supposed to fit. I was told it would fit Knucklehead and Panhead. It is so good, I thought for a mad moment it might be a repro put in an old box, but looking at it, the edges are not perfect, and it has the look of something made in an era before the higher fished standards that we are used to today.
Part number on the box is 59885-48
Thanks Richard

This part should be made out of brass. Quick check with a magnet will verify. Also, it looks squashed from the profile pic you added. This can be very easily and carefully made to fit by matching the curve of of the fender to the tip, as the material is very easy to work with.

Repro parts in fake or old boxes are not unheard of. As for the quality, no current modern production part is nearly as well finished as the original was, you have that information backwards. We only wish parts were made to the same standard as they maintained back then...I bought this rear nos Eagle tip for my 55FLH. When it arrived, I rushed to the garage to fit it, and found it is way too big.

As was stated, it looks flattened.

59215-48 front, 59885-48 rear are 7.25" wide.
If the ends bend easily it may fit.

I just swapped for a new repop cause I had to cover the holes in my OG fender and couldn't justify $150 for a beat up OG. That part, to me, looks like a repop because the ends are very pointed. I was checking out a friend's OG last week and the ends are flatter, almost like it was ready for a flat trim to run up the fender. Anyway my fender is quite straight and it took some time to bend the repop so it fit and looked right. If you bought it right$ you should be able to bend it into useable condition. And like mine, it can be replaced if you get a deal on NOS. I don't know what I paid for mine....he wants some help with a '66 mismatched cases lower end, ugh! But he said take it and we'll square up later, "A bird in the hand.."

Richard, I'd like to know the name of the seller that sold you a repop part in an NOS box.
That's a dirty deal, he needs to be exposed so no-one else gets taken by him.

Re: Newbie buys wrong part, can some wise person ID
Thanks Guys for all your help, the problem is solved/fixed successfully.
First I checked with a magnet, no stick, so it is a genuine nos tip. Next I tried gently putting more bend in it so it fitted the fender, it went really well. I found that it mostly need more bend in the middle, in the Eagle part. In 10 min it was fitting the fender perfectly, the chrome creaked a bit, but NO cracking, and I checked it very carefully. I now think, it has been slowly bent, by being in the Original box for years, as it doesn't want to go back in the box now without bulging it. And just to make it perfect my nos Harley accessory mud flap turned up today, and the Eagle tip lined up perfectly with the two holes already in the fender for the mud flap.
Anyone got any suggestions on what I could use to make a "gasket" to go between the tip and the fender ?
The fenders are original factory paint and I don't want to damage the paint.

Use small nylon washers or shims in various thickness at each mounting point to raise tip just shy of hitting fender. Can be found at any good hardware store.
