On the road again! 1960 FLHF

#1

Post by Wrong Road »

Would just like to thank everyone on this forum for all the helpful comments which allowed me to get my '60 Pan back on the road again. Was apart in boxes since 1998 through several moves. Started putting it back together in winter '16 after moving to Colorado. Started it up in late August. Runs great! Original plan was to completely rebuild it but I had to ride it again while I could. I'll try to pick up some correct year parts this winter. Could use pipes, mufflers, buckhorn bars, horn, etc... No end to this pastime, thankfully. Next challenge is getting it titled/plated in CO.

Special thanks to Cotten for help with the float and other advice and to the moderators.

Thanks again! Pictures attached

I meant to also add the audio file of the running bike. Rename the file extension from .doc to .m4a

Nice job! Only thing I would change is putting hubcap in place of rear wheel spacer. Really finishes off the look on that side! Tim

Looking good. I ran mine with unbaffled fish tails for a while, switched to muffled cigars and seemed to run quite a bit more lively.

Thanks for the comments.
Weedy: I have never noticed a rear wheel hubcap but will look through the gallery to get educated
panhead_kicker: I plan on getting some stock mufflers as I have to really work the advance to get good performance at different rpm's. And, of course, there's the neighbors.
panhog: You are not getting senile! I consider winter 2016 to be Jan-Feb-March 2016. The year starts in winter, right? Anyway, I started putting it back together in March 2016. It had been boxed and crated for 15+ years while I lived in Florida. I only lost a few pieces but found them once they had been replaced :( The worst purchase was a pair of vtwin shocks which don't actually compress. Guess I'll have to take them off and open them up. I would really like to use the stock shocks but one of the cartridges is broken.
