Linkert M81A
Does anyone know something about a M81A three bolt 1 1/4" Linkert carburetor.
I have not been able to find anything on any web site, publication or googling for it.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Re: Linkert M81A
I have never heard of it before either.
But I have one.
I am thinking back a way that I read somewhere some Linkerts were stamped other then at the factory. Am I dreaming or has anyone else heard this?
Thanks in advance for any information

Re: Linkert M81A
Linkerts were stamped by Linkert, not by H-D. How about a picture of the carb and the stamping? Tom Cotten likes to lurk about, perhaps he has a clue. But without pics of the carb it could be anything.
Does it have fixed or adjustable high speed, doesit have any original finish, is it internally or externally vented, etc, etc.??
Only pictures will help with its ID.

Hope these came through.
Please let me know if you would like a specific angle of the M81A carburetor.
Thanks in advance

Re: Linkert M81A
Has anyone had a chance to check out my pictures of that m81a that I have posted.
The carburetor has all original finish, it is internally vented, has a brass Venturi and does not have a fixed jet.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Re: Linkert M81A
AFAIK the throttle disc is 13 degrees (and stamped "13") on all 1-1/4", but that's only the ones we know of for H-D and Indian applications.
I find it curious that the letter "M" is missing.
Perhaps this isn't a motorcycle carburetor?
There's a casting number on the side, what is it?

Re: Linkert M81A
Interesting carb, however I have never seen a Linkert for motorcycle use without the M stamped in the number, which makes me wonder if it was for some other application. That stamping doesn't match any other I am aware of.

Re: Linkert M81A
As were all the castings of that period. How many lines of script on it?The casting # is 2-348
