clutch basket question

#1

Post by george48pan »

I took my clutch apart to inspect the friction dics and clutch needed adjustment. When I removed the first disc in the basket, I had to scrape and use air to blow out pieces of friction material. I have a BDL belt drive. So I removed the basket. The riveted friction lining on the clutch hub had spun. It was not being held by rivets. The back side of the basket that the hub friction lining contacts was not scored . Inside the clutch basket, the steel surface that the friction disc mates to, has small grooves on it.

Question: Is the clutch basket garbage now? Can it be fixed , OR just keep running it with a different hub?

I found my original basket and 24 tooth motor gear. I have not found my chain yet.

Will a 24 tooth motor gear be a good setup with a chain?

Your clutch basket looks fine. You will have to replace the lining for the Hub clean and reassemble the clutch and done.
