Glass beads in gearcase - new problem

#1

Post by RI61Duoglide »

Having worst luck so far with this bike...
I started a ne topic for this one.

While my lifter blocks were out of my 61 pan, one of the guys in the shop blasted a piece of old iron and didn't cover my bike. I looked into the gearcase and I saw some glass beads So I pulled off the cam cover I'm about to remove all the gears, disconnect the oil lines and flush the gearbox 10 times. There wasn't a lot of media, I only saw ~10 or so beads but it only takes one or two. What's a good product to use to flush the gearcase then hit it with the air and flush it again then hit it with air and flush it again didn't hit it with air dry rub some assembly lube on all the gears and fill.
Parts cleaner, kerosene, choke fluid, Garden hose w WD40?

gearbox is the tranny, gear case is the engine.
Remove gears and wash in parts tank.

Right. Once I remove all the gears in the gearcase what should I use to flush out the inside of the case with to ensure there are no other beads?

Clean parts in parts cleaner, brush inside gear case with kerosine.

I agree.
And do not be tempted to use compressed air to dry it out. It will be fine with residual kerosene left behind. Compressed air will just blow stuff deeper into the breather cavity.
