1954 re-pop frame question

#1

Post by zippster1 »

This is a 1954 Give It Full Throttle frame. Overall I am pleased with the quality until I got ready to mount the gas tank. Here is what I have.

Here is what I found on the inner web.

Is this made to bolt on? Weld on?
Thanks

It should be a weld-in, fitment with tanks bolted in at other two locations.
But does the manufacturer intend it to be 'bolted' to the bracket that's already welded there? Why would they create a re-paint situation without stating so. I think they're trying to cover earlier years, too.
If call the manufacturer and find out, but be ready to cut out the bracket they have already welded in, and fit/weld the loose bracket they shipped. Depends on how 'correct' you are after. I'd assume that starting fresh and laying out good cash, you want it to be like factory.
If you have OEM tanks, fitting that last lower horn/tank bracket last is the correct procedure for proper fitment.

Thanks for the answer. The bracket, V Twin 51-0545, is back ordered, discontinued or impossible to find.

The weld-on bracket is usually in stock at Wasco Frame. Try ordering direct from website, he has been having a few issues, wants to make it direct-purchase without PayPal involved.
If you have trouble, try calling, or send me a PM.

Thanks again Big Incher, I had Wasco bookmarked but forgot where. I sourced a VTwin part from a supplier at a higher cost. If things don't work out with the supplier I will get in touch with Wasco.
