Have any of you used Preston Cycle in Canada or any of their dealers? Are any of their parts genuine Harley or how good or otherwise are their parts as aftermarkt? Thanks jerry

They are basically a reseller for aftermarket parts. No genuine parts. Primarily V-Twin stuff. They don't usually deal with individuals - you have to order their stuff through your local bike shop.

You might find it's better, sometimes even cheaper, to order your parts directly from the US. Some good sources:
- TomsNOSparts.com
- Olddude.com
- thegoodoldmotorcyclecompany.com

There's also canadasmotorcycle.ca which has some things like oil, and some gaskets.

Thanks for the reply Steve. I am new to harley and find parts hard to find here. With the dollar so low, shipping and duty, ordering from the states is formidable.I am in need of everything rear brakes first, and with tranny out it will be next. Any swap meets in ontario? Ineed to make some contacts. I am no stranger to bikes and fixingso I am looking forward to the challenge. jerry

Depending on what you are looking for you may be able to find it at a factory dealership.

I'm thinking I bought something direct from Preston (30 plus years ago) but now you have to find one of their dealers.

There used to be a fairly large swap meet in Toronto (Queens Quay) that I used to attend when I lived in the Ottawa valley....but I moved away from there in 89. Some of the independant shops might be able to help there...or try Google. I'm thinking most swap meets are going to be looking at Evo's as old, so finding shovel and older stuff will be rare.

There's always putting wanted ads on the different forums and searching Kijiji, Craigslist and such. I picked up a pair of wheels without rubber from one of them and had them bussed out from NS, here to Van Isle.

Ask the eBay seller the question. If he says it's not warped but when you get it is, it is returnable.
If you don't have time to sit there bidding as the auction ends, you can get a bid-sniper that will bid for you, up to the maximum amount that you decide to enter. Do a Google search, you can find them. They usually charge a small amount, like 1% of the total. That's only a buck per $100.
eBay is a great source for parts. You need to know what you are bidding on, though. So you should get yourself a copy of the Spare Parts Catalog so you get the right parts.

Thanks guys, I know you will look out for me. I do have a manual and parts books. Time is a big factor. Money will come ( Canadian exchange) Shipping sometimes is nuts Sometimes I see shipping free to anywhere in the states from ohio but 40 bucks to send it 200 miles to me in Ontario+ duty + 13% HST tax. I hve been searching and run into these road blocks that make you sit back and reconsider. Maybe I can Make a deal with some Reputable business down there that might discount for larger dollar orders to soften the other costs. For some of these reasons I tend to look more in Canada for parts. I have been thinking of one of the cross border post boxes, still it will be a 8 hour round trip to get them and I will not lie at the border crossing. (against what I believe). Got to Wauseon last year and got some small items. That was fun. Not so many places up here, I am patient but I want to get this bike up and running and use good on new oem if possible as I go. I know the cost is only part of the love, and I have done other projects so I will succeed thanks again jerry
