Parts ID

#1

Post by tickface »

I was going to post this in the ID forum but couldn't see a place to add it? Hope this is the right place and thank you in advance for any knowledge you can share. I received these three parts in a large lot of Shovelhead parts that I recently purchased, I think the kickstand bracket is early Pan, but can't find much info on it, I looked in Palmer's book and for the life of me can't find a single mention of kickstands. I was thinking maybe Indian on the other 2 brackets but do not know for sure. Again, thank you for sharing any info you can!

The first two parts are part of the jiffy stand and the left side foot control.

The bottom part looks like it might be a fabricated foot control mount for the brake side. Bolts to the stock position on right side of frame with 2 bolts.

Thank you very much for the responses, I guess I was a bit vague, I know where they go, and what they do, I was looking for information on what they came on? Model, years, etc. Thanks again!

With the exception of the side stand bracket, they look home-made to me. It's possible that whoever fabbed them up might have started with original or aftermarket parts and then hacked them up and welded on them.

Those are not homemade. They are H-D parts from a fairly late model Wideglide.

Are you sure? The wide glide is a dyna chassis and they don't use this type of jiffy stand mount. I don't remember the mounts on my '93 FXDWG looking like this. But it has been a while. Maybe a softail? They used this type of jiffy stand mount.

As usual Rubone knows his sh*t! I guess I was thrown off by the condition of the mounts, they appeared to be older when in reality they are part #'s 42507-87 33683-87A. Thank you guys very much

Craig, I think the wide glide came out in 81, long before the dyna..

You're right. It's probably from an early Wide Glide. But Robby said a "fairly late model wide glide" which means a newer design/model. They've been using the Dyna chassis for about 25+ years.

As you can see, I'm not very familiar with the later model stuff either  .
When did they switch over to the even newer 3 bolt mount for both the shift and brake? 1999 or 2000?
Those control mounts must be from the era just prior to that.
They are rather rustic - looking :) .

Anything after '69 is a late model to me. I haven't ridden any new H-D products for decades (and don't intend to). My rides of choice for modern bikes are not overweight under performing lumps. But even fleeting familiarity points to those as factory parts, so it was an easy call.

OK... I can relate to that. The newest harley I've ever owned was my '93 FXDWG.
I rented a RoadKing in 2012 to see if I was missing anything. After riding it for two days I couldn't wait to get home and return it to the dealer. I'm not even tempted anymore.
