I had this sprocket riveting jig made. It is based on HD's original , but mine is adjustable to take 45 , BT pressed & later cast drums.
Two different anvils & the centre of the drum fixture can be moved & anvil reversed to do the cast drums.

Flatboy, that's slick. Being I'm only going to be doing this once I wouldn't need the jig. I looked carefully at my rivets and they all spin, suggesting to me I should replace them all. I want to do this right, I want it to look original and I want it to be safe. Looking thru VTwinn Catalogue, I'm not finding the rivets I'll need. I see I'll also need 4 dowels, correct? Where can I pick these up? Also, because I don't trust any of the bike shops around town, could a machine shop rivet it up correctly for me?

V Twin part # is 19-0110 for rivets & dowels.
I am in South Africa , so I know nothing about American machine shops , sorry.

This is a jig that I made to rivet my sprocket on the drum
First time for this, did some research and this is what I came up with
Worked really well-maybe this will help out someone else
Follow instructions in the service manual, peen rivets with a ballpeen hammer, then finish off with a rivet set if you have one for a round head finished appearance.
Great idea. Couple questions as I’ve never tried it. Just wanna make sure I got a handle on this. Drum rests on top of the 2 boards, the wood piece in the center supports the drum, the steel upright support aligns for peening the rivets. The inside drill tap is for the rivets and the outside is for the dowels? What is the tool used for?

You are correct on your understanding of the jig, and the tool is a rivet set for finishing of the rivet. After peening with a hammer place the tool over the rivet and strike it with a hammer, the tool has a concave hole to make the rivet head look neat in appearance.
