Kicker Cover Questions - Casting/Dates

#1

Post by dlbohne »

Newbie here with my first Pan. Picked up a 49 EL over the summer and now that winter is here, trying to work through some of the issues. The kicker cover has quite a few cracks in it, so trying to determine my best plan of attack.

The transmission has a H8 date code (Aug 1948) on the bottom side.

The kicker cover has a H0. I'm assumign this means that the cover was replaced by a previous owner.

I am trying to figure out if this is a 1940 or 1950 cover. The one change I have noticed looking at many pictures is that my H0 cover has an indented 33-352, while some have a raised code similar to the casting code. Does anyone know what year HD switched from an indented 33-352 in the kicker cover to the raised 33-352?

Also, does anybody know if the tranmission and kicker cover date codes should match or are they just close.

Any help would be appreciated.

A 1949 would be raised , it should have a 48 / 49 date code , but won't Match the case , two separate parts.

Thanks Adam. Any idea what year the cover I have is? It is the indented 33-352 with a raised H0. Does that make it a 1940 or 1950?
