Speedo Gasket

#1

Post by fl9018 »

I have a question regarding the round rubber gasket that goes on the speedo body. Does it go above the ridge and under the dash creating a seal towards the top of the speedo or does it go below the ridge or ring where it wouldn't do much of anything?
P.S. I can't find any assembly pictures or drawings in any shop manuals or parts catalogs.

The gasket did not appear until the mid '70s and was only used with the die-cast dash covers. Early speedos are bolted to the dash plate solidly and centered in the dash cover hole with no gaskets. That is why you can't find info on them, they did not exist.
