oil light on...?
first of all i can't spell for s#*t .............On a 2 light dash.is the oil light always on when riding....i just rebuilt my 52 pan , it was on a 58 swing arm and over the winter had a chance to get an oridginal 52 frame from a buddy, and i added an oil filter on it, i'am very sure i'm gettin oil to the engen, i took off the filter and it had oil in it , so i assume the oil is flowing good, i don't have an oil pressure gauge on it, ....i had a 3 light dash on the old frame , and don't remember if that light was allways on, i remember a light on but don't know if it was the oil or gen, and also does the gen. light come on only when there is a problem with it..thanx for all your help.....gonzo

Re: oil light on...?
Open the oil tank and make sure oil is returning, if so, it's probably the sending unit.

Re: oil light on...?
The oil light should be on when the ignition is on and the engine is not running, Once you start the engine, the light should be out at speeds above idle.
After the oil gets hot, the light may go on at higher engine speeds, but should always go out when the engine is revving higher.
2-light or 3-light dash, the oil light should act the same.

Re: oil light on...?
Best to check return to tank, could just be a bad sending unit, and the repops are way off calibration.

Re: oil light on...?
Wiring check.
Turn the ignition switch on. Both Gen and Oil lights should be on.
Disconnect the green wire that goes to the oil switch, the oil light should go out.
Touch the green oil switch wire to ground, the oil light should go on.
