Say Good Bye E-Bay!

#1

Post by Robert Luland »

As of today the higher to be's at E-Bay have eliminated the country of origin option. I could hardly get through the pages each morning under "American" sifting through the do rags, clocks, tee-shirts etc to find real parts but this is the last straw. Now you can sort through 1975 dirt bike clutches etc. I will not sell anymore in this scenario. Nobody will ever see it. Bob L.

Bob,
I am on eBay daily, I buy things and occasionally sell something and have for many years. Never once have I searched anything by country of origin! I didn't ever even consider such a thing. I search by descriptions, and happily much of what I buy is poorly described!

I'm with Robbie, I've never had to define the country of origin.

However, that means you will be putting your parts on here, so I'll keep my eyes peeled!

Rob, your not understanding what happened here. You are searching American by default. Go on there now and have a good time. To fast on the trigger. Bob L

Bob,
Apparently I am not understanding your comment. I was just there before I responded the first time. So I went back and looked again after your last comment. And on my searches and the way I perform them I find absolutely no change. Same numbers of items, plus or minus the normal variation.

Sadly, Robert is right. Any usual search to say, Antique, Vintage, Historic parts for American Bikes is no longer solely available, a bunch of Hodaka,Honda and Yamaha parts now come up as well, clouding the waters, so to speak

This as a whole is even compounded by the fact that E-Bay’s software is a cheap piece of shit. Do a search for sidecar and then do a search for sidecars. You will get two different things since the Flees software can’t cross reference a plural. Bob L

Yea, I had to go check.... Kinda scratching my head?

I am an ebay Whore/nut. It's a Love Hate relationship. I normally watch the "Ending Now" stuff and sometimes check the newest listings. I didn't see anything different last night.

I will run a search for "Heads" and "Head", I'll also search a misspelled word from time to time and found something listed that way. I've never use Country of Origin. I'll run "Distance" searches to see what's local for sale.

It is a change and goodbye to casual looking. I usually scan a 24 hr period and am not that patient as with all of the other models it makes it a daunting task. Gave up after my usual time. I still can search model specific Not a good move by E Bay. Too bad
The spelling or rather misspelling makes the good buys possible
Well said " a love hate relationship"

This search string appears to filter out everything but the vintage Harley Parts.

All I did was to use the available filters. Looks like they re-arranged them.

My wife used to sell on Ebay for years(powerseller)....still has a nearly perfect record, but things have been slowly going downhill. She stopped selling on there a few months ago....things are out of control for sellers....cannot leave negative feedback on non performing buyers, final value fees are getting out of hand, and changing so much to screw the little person....we are done with them as sellers too....I understand what you are saying Robert!
