I had the same leak and also thought it was the gasket. This is on my 65 flh with all original generator. I tried different gaskets as well as different sealants. Nothing seemed to work so I figured it was another leak I had to live with. When I did a tear down of my bike I discovered that the leak was coming from the idler gear mounting stud hole. It was drilled and tapped all the way through the gear case. A small dab of jb weld on the outside of the case where the mounting stud is cured the problem.

STEVE---You said it right--(I do not want to use silicon!).---The INDIAN-HEAD copper sealer Is applied to a clean surface -(around that ring that enters the case. When Tightened it wont OOZE into the motor!.--It does NOT HARDEN!.& Remains very-pliable!. Brush-on a nice bead around the ring & hit the side of ring also. When you install the genny -Have a bolt ready & snug them -up equally to where it must be!.Any Sealer that was applied to side of ring scraped off while you installed it.Then when snugged it finds any divits or spaces where oil can accumulate & LEAK LATER-ON!Remember PREP is EVERYTHING here.WIPE CASE & CAP with ALCOHOL until CLEAN!.YOU will have a successful stop of oil leaking!.The Amount that you should put on the ring is just under a eigth inch=.125.--This will ALLOW PERFECT sealing.I have done this MANY times -not olny on my crews machines ,but ALOT of customers also. IT comes of EASILY when servicing the genny in the future.----Respectfully----RICHIE

Here is what I have.

Inside markings are 30095-58.

It is cast iron, and if it is what you need, PM me your mailing address and I will give it to you for your bike.

I meant leaking next to the generator, from the generator idler gear stud hole. Some times they leak there and the generator mounting gasket gets blamed for the leak.

Pretty special indeed. I checked with a couple of specialty (i.e. old) bike shops here in Belleville and a bit down the road in Ottawa and nobody had this part. The people in this group are THE experts and a priceless resource when it comes to these old machines.
