I almost hate to ask this , but...
I purchased a NOS clamp 65510-61, and tried to use it with a non stock true dual left pipe. It did not fit , and I ended up bending the angle trying to make it fit. Eventually I gave up and just ran without the clamp. Today, I have acquired a NOS cross over pipe stock to my bike. The clamp at this point appears to pull the crossover and thus the rear header out of wack, then the Y pipe, etc. The rear header appears to be stock also. Does anyone have an UNMOLESTED 65510-61 clamp that they can measure the correct angle? I could just start bending it back till I get a good fit, but a general correct angle would be a better start. I am pretty sure mine is bent too wide at the moment.
(By the way, even with the ill fitting pipe, I seem to prefer the sound of the crossover vs the true dual. The motor definitely likes it better. Once I get the exhaust right, adding the dual point breaker back is next )
Don't know why... but I am continually amazed at how nicely things fit together when all stock parts are finally mated together....

How about put clamp on pipe, swing clamp to mount point, check angle, bend accordingly.

Thanks Panacea, looks like a 90 almost. That's probably where I'll start. May save a few iterations of fitting all the pipes up to adjust.Panacea wrote:Here is a pic of the bracket installed...

Re: Exhaust Clamp 65510-61
I have a oem true duel pipe and bracket on my 60FLH. When I got it 25 years ago. I remember spending hours heating and bending that braket till I got it right. That is one of the Harley, it won't fit unless you screw with it parts. I mean sure it will fit if you mount the pipe and then just thigten down the cylinder nut until it squishes out. Just about the way the factory did it. Bob L

Do you have the dual point set-up? If not I have several extras, including a factory tach that runs off the shaft.

Thanks cdndewey, I've got a dual point, just haven't tried to use it yet. Just now getting it running fine so changing one thing at a time. The tach is interesting. I'll keep it in mind.cdndewey wrote:Do you have the dual point set-up? If not I have several extras, including a factory tach that runs off the shaft.
Got the exhaust all re-installed with proper angle on the clamp. Put 20 miles on it on the county roads and everything is still lined up nice. Looks like I can take it apart and silicone the joints up for a nice tight system. Thanks guys.
