7/16" - 24 thread bolts

#1

Post by belmont »

I discovered several NOS Parkerized 7/16"-24 thread bolts in a bin this weekend. They have a plain (unmarked) 5/8" hex head that is 1/4" thick. They are 1 and 1/8" long. I have never run across this particular thread pitch before. I have 7/16' - 24V thread nuts in my 1941 parts book, but no bolts that size in the index of screws and bolts back then.
Any info is greatly appreciated.

That thread size is typically used on brake line, hose, and master cylinder fittings. How a simple bolt would be used, I have no idea....

The 7/16-24V nuts I have are 0131 or 7871. They were used on quite a few things in the 30's to sometime in the 50's, on the old tandem seat, I don't have one of those to use for a check. I did check one of the nuts and apparently the minor thread on these oddballs is to big, like .412".

Thanks for your help, this another one of those little mysteries in life.
