Re: Repop fuel/oil tanks
When did they bring the lower strip under the script writing? I was looking at 1 but only has the upper mount not the lower aswell like my panhead?
So only way is too drill?

Re: Repop fuel/oil tanks
'54 only has no under strip, nor do '55-'56. However they are in different positions on the tank. '54 is located higher than '55-'56. The emblem mounts themselves are exactly the same. And what do you mean by "drill"?
These are the tanks with emblems mounted.

Re: Repop fuel/oil tanks
Ok, I was looking at my pan tanks and was curious. By drill I mean removing the emblem mounts? I had a set I was in contact with a guy but 1 sides a 47-50 and the fuel tank I'm questing is a 54 cause it only has a mount for the script writing. My thought was to possibly just remove the emblem mounts or just 1 to make them match

Re: Repop fuel/oil tanks
Locate the spot welds, and using a die grinder or a Dremel, carefully grind through the spot welds and peel the strips off. Dress down the remains and you're good to go....
